How can small businesses build simple SOPs without overcomplicating operations?

Our team keeps repeating mistakes when I am offline. What is a practical way to document SOPs for sales, delivery, and support?

SOPs should be short checklists people actually use.

Simple method
1. Pick the top 5 repeating processes (lead response, onboarding, delivery QA, refunds, closing)
2. Record the real steps once (screen video or bullet list)
3. Turn each into a 1-page checklist with owner and definition of done
4. Review monthly after incidents

Tools matter less than habit. Start in a shared drive. Add software later only if adoption is strong.

Good SOPs make hiring, franchising, and selling the business easier later.
