How do I write SOPs that staff actually follow?

We write long manuals nobody opens. What format works for SMEs?

Make SOPs short: purpose, steps, owner, tools, and 'done looks like.' Use checklists and screenshots. Train on the floor, then audit weekly.

If a SOP needs a novel, the process is too complex.
