Should I register as a sole proprietorship or private limited company in Pakistan?

I am launching a digital marketing agency. When is sole proprietorship enough, and when should I incorporate an SMC or private limited company with SECP?

Choose structure based on risk, partners, and growth plans.

Sole proprietorship
- Faster and cheaper to start
- Suitable for solo freelancers and early testing
- Personal liability stays with you

SMC / Private Limited (SECP)
- Better when you want limited liability, formal hiring, larger clients, or investment
- Stronger for banking and corporate contracts
- More compliance (returns, filings, record-keeping)

If you expect partners, significant contracts, or outside capital within a year, incorporate earlier. If you are validating a service offer alone, start simple and upgrade when traction is real.

Pair entity choice with FBR registration and, where needed, provincial sales tax on services.
